Tips on How to Design Your Custom T Shirts

by Dave

Custom T Shirts can be a great tool for marketing success. If your business is deciding to invest in promotional clothing, you’re going to want to make sure they are done right! After all, your advertising campaign won’t be successful if you aren’t standing out from the crowd. These are our top tips on ensuring your custom tops make a splash, whenever they’re worn.

  1. Think about your brand
The first thing you need to do before designing your custom T shirtsis think about your brand. Do you still like your logo and colour scheme? If not, you don’t want to go plastering it over your personalised clothing, so consider redesigning these first. If you’re happy with everything, think about what colours your clothes will need to be to complement your brand. Fluro might look great with your logo, but are there more subtle colours people would prefer to wear that would look just as good? These are all things you’ll need to consider.
  2. Function comes first
They need to be wearable in order for your campaign to work. By this we mean ensuring they are comfortable and practical. Choose a fabric that will feel nice against bare skin, as that’s how T shirts are usually worn. Don’t select a cut that’s too long or too short – unless you’re sure your customers or employees are going to wear them.
  3. They need to look good
On the other hand, you don’t want to choose custom made tops that are boring or out of style, because people won’t wear these either. Look to current trends for inspiration. Crew cuts look good on men and women, and minimalistic designs suit most tastes. Think about the season that these will first be worn. If you’re set on a short sleeve tee, don’t bring it out at the start of winter – it will sit in the back of people’s cupboards and they’ll forget they even own it by the time the weather warms up.
  4. Choose a style everyone will love
If you’re having a hard time choosing a style that everyone will love, consider a relaxed fit. This is a great unisex style that’s very in at the moment, as men are preferring firmer fits and women are loving loose clothes – meaning it will be the perfect middle ground. This way, you don’t need to order separate styles, and you can be sure everyone will love it!
  5. Quality is important
Though your business may want to head down the budget route, choosing a poor-quality fabric might do more harm for your company than good. Go too cheap, and your clothes could fall apart the first time they’re worn, and you’ll be remembered as a stingy brand. If you’re unsure what fabric to choose, ask our experts for their advice.

As you can see, there are a lot of decisions to make when designing custom T shirts. To ensure your marketing campaign is successful, we recommend following these tips. At the end of the day, if your recipients aren’t wearing them, then you’ll have spent a lot of money on clothing that’s giving you no added exposure.
